I'm not sure if I should put another thread about this so I'll ask here: What kinda guitar riffs and melody's are ppls liking? I'm trying to make something that kinda sounds main stream like the Deftones' song Back to School (Mini Maggit) but I can't make anything catchy.

Try to make something close to 120 bpm. instant hit.

That's basically the usual song speed. But okay. I'll see what I can do with that. But what about guitar riffs and melody?

naw, usually songs can range from 84 to 180

Oh okay. Well my question about melody is still unanswered. I want it to be hard rock like Back to School (Mini Maggit) but I can't think of anything like it.

try looking up the tab for mini maggit and see what tuning they use. tune your guitar as such, then play a basic chord progression. try several different ones. at least one will sound like something you can work with, i guarantee.
